I know the holiday season can be a mixed bag of emotions. It's a time of joy and celebration, but it can also be a time of heartache, especially if you're missing someone special. I've been there and want to share my journey with you, hoping it might comfort you.
About five years ago, I experienced my first Christmas without my dad. I was numb, and engaging with others felt like a monumental task. But I realized that by withdrawing, I was robbing myself and my loved ones of the chance to create new memories. If you've ever felt this way, I want you to know that it's okay to grieve, but don't let grief steal your joy.
Psalm 34:18 says, The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. You're not alone in your grief. God is right there with you, bringing comfort and peace.
This holiday season, I encourage you to honor the memory of your loved ones by creating new memories with those still here. It's what they would have wanted. It's tough, I know, but take heart. Embrace those around you and make memories that your loved ones would be proud of.
I hope my story brings you some comfort and encourages you to keep living, loving, and cherishing those still here. Let's get through this together.
Remember, it's okay to grieve and find joy in the present. Let's honor our loved ones by living our lives to the fullest.
